The “Behind These Walls” display starts with a 182-foot mural on the north end of the building, celebrating ATI’s partnership with the town of Cudahy, dating back more than 100 years. Ladish Forging built its Cudahy facility in 1912 to serve the farming and construction equipment industries. The company grew to produce propeller forgings for early airplanes, and ultimately high-temperature forgings for the hot sections of jet engines. Ladish was acquired by ATI in 2011.
The four 20- foot displays along South Packard Avenue feature the various critical markets served by ATI including defense and aerospace applications, alongside the world-class thermomechanical processing and manufacturing operations occurring inside. Featured processes include iso-thermal forging, machining, heat treatment and finishing.
“We are honored by generations of pride within our facility and in city of Cudahy. We are proud to be part of the Cudahy story, and excited to revitalize our stretch of Packard Avenue by sharing what we do with our community,” said Sirianni. “We appreciate the support from the Cudahy Mayor and City Administrator and approval from the city’s Design Review Board to make this installation possible. It’s amazing to think that virtually every commercial plane flying, as well as many of the journeys to space, get their start right here in Cudahy.”
